🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]

Alpine Dog Park offers a much-needed recreational spot for local dog owners and travelers passing through Alpine, TX. This fenced, off-leash dog park is conveniently located near the town’s baseball fields (though signage is limited), making it a useful stop for exercise, dog socialization, and a break during road trips. While the surfaces are mostly dirt and can be dusty, your dog will have ample room to run and play. Visitors frequently mention that the park is right beside the ball fields and features scenic views of the surrounding Texas landscape.
The park provides separate, fenced areas for small and large dogs, though currently, only the small dog area is open as upgrades (like new shade structures) are underway for the large side. Amenities include running water for thirsty pups, poop bag stations, and some agility equipment for canine fun. Owners can find parking nearby, though locating the park may require some effort, and there is a short walk from the lot. Given its low traffic, your dog may have the park mostly to themselves. The park also provides access to pet-friendly trails and is close to a playground, making it ideal for families.
Great that the town has a dog park for locals and travelers. Our dog loves running & meeting other dogs. I will warn travelers that the goat head (small spikey things) are pretty bad. If you notice your dog limping, check their paws. I brought his hiking boots with us, he wore them while he played to protect his feet.
It is all dirt, very dusty. There is water available. Only the small side is open right now, they are putting shade on the large side.
Getting better since last visit. Not as many goat head burrs as last year.
Water works and plenty of poop bags. Wish there were more customers. My dogs never get to socialize, we’re always alone.
Pulled into the parking lot, and my dog was immediately limping, with burrs stuck in her paws. We didn’t even make it to the dog park. It’s also very difficult to locate.
Hard to find. It’s beside the baseball fields but without any signs to direct you to the actual park. There was water there for the dogs and a god fence. There were a couple of dog agility props available. Separate areas for big and small dogs.
Hard to find google maps says it’s right in the middle of the main road. If you get out and try to walk from the ball field closest to where maps drops you the field is covered in stickers. Patch of dirt once you find it but allows dogs to do what they need to off leash. People don’t pick up after dogs tho.
