Ferry Point Park in the Throgs Neck area is a spacious, pet-friendly park conveniently located near the Whitestone Bridge on the Bronx side. Known for its open fields, scenic walking trails, and waterfront views, it offers a peaceful atmosphere for dog owners seeking a relaxing outing with their pets. It is easily accessible via the Bx42 bus route and has its own NYC Ferry stop, making it one of the more accessible parks for both locals and visitors.
The park features wide, grassy areas perfect for dogs to explore (leashes required except in designated areas, if any), as well as a variety of amenities such as benches, bathrooms, and picnic spots. Visitors appreciate the green space for walking, sports, and gatherings, and the walking trails give a “dog-friendly hiking” experience right in the Bronx. While the park can get busy on weekends, its size and location next to the water provide a unique draw for families and pet lovers alike.
I’ve seen this park through its many phases and I am happy to see it at this phase. Large open fields. With small pockets of beach/rocky points to the water. The ferry was a nice addition
At first, I didn’t even know that Ferry Point Park had another section. It has quite the nice playground area (with a relatively clean bathroom as well), and there is a really nice walking trail that makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a forest. Unlike the part of Ferry Point Park where you go for the NYC Ferry, this part is much more easily accessible due to being much closer to a bus route (that route being the Bx42).
What a gem of a park. Beautiful nature walk and a small playground. I bring my toddler all the time now.
My daughter loves to roller skate, and I need to start roller blading. But this has become our Go To park and to be by a body of water is priceless. It’s better than Glen Island, much better views!
No playgrounds though, just big open fields for kids to run around and use their imagination!
This is nice park located next to and under the Whitestone Bridge on the Bronx side. Located minutes a away from a small shopping mall this is a great located for bbqs, picnics, biking, fishing and walking. This park recently also got its own NYC Ferry stop which can take you from the park all the way down to Wall St in Manhattan. This park does get crowded and fast so beware. If you was a table with a view or just a spot close to the parking lot get there early. Pictures provided are what the night time skyline looks like from park.
