Parking is available (though sometimes in grassy areas), and the park itself also features playgrounds, benches, monuments, and a spacious walking trail. The dog park area is well-maintained, providing a designated space for dogs to play off-leash. The combination of clean facilities, shaded paths, and quiet atmosphere makes this one of the best spots for pet owners looking for adventure, fresh air, and a dog-friendly community in Dunn, NC.
Lots of shade under the tree canopy along this trail. From Cape Fear River Park there is a short connector through a wooded area, then a mile or two on residential road into town of Erwin. The East Coast Greenway signs are small and faded leading to Dunn Erwin Trail. At S 13th and Chief Joseph Lane there is no sign. Continue to left on S 13th for 1 block. Cross 13th and you are on trail.
Odd set up with monuments and benches staggered along the path for 2-3 blocks. Finally reach the crushed stone trail. Multiple road crossings, but only 3 have moderate traffic; others did not.
Saw livestock, farms and some industry lining the trail. Was pleasant, predominantly shaded and totally uncrowded. In 15 mile roundtrip, we encountered only 3 other people.
A few different trailhead parking areas in safe areas. It was a pleasant ride.
I have throughly enjoyed this walking trail. Bike riders a very respectable. They share the trail well. I have a hard time walking by my truck at the circle tracks. The mile markers are very helpful to me as I have just started walking. Thanks Harnett County !

Beautiful trail! It does need a little maintenance, parking is a bit sketch (I had to park my car in the grass), and it’s disappointing to know ATVs are a problem, too. Big storms caused some damage, and that’s understandable, but there was broken glass in several spots and graffiti on the bridges.
I love riding my bike down this picturesque trail that connects the towns of Dunn and Erwin in Harnett County.
The trail is designed for joggers/walkers and/or bicycle riders.
The ten miles can be completed in at least sixty minutes.
After the pandemic, a Dog Park opened, and it’s a great addition to the dog owners.
Crews were working hard down the trail, brushing, trimming, and doing maintenance early in the morning.
