🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located by the beautiful shores of Candlewood Lake, Candlewood Lake Park in New Milford, CT, provides a relaxing destination for family outdoor activities and pet-friendly walks. While not a traditional off-leash dog park, visitors frequently walk their dogs along the scenic trails and enjoy quiet moments by the water. The park’s peaceful, clean, and somewhat private atmosphere makes it a hidden gem, especially for those seeking a tranquil day out in the Connecticut countryside with their pets.
The park is known for its accessibility, offering wheelchair-accessible parking. It’s also a kid-friendly space, making it ideal for families with children and pets alike. While the water looks inviting, swimming for both people and pets is not officially permitted—many visitors dip their feet or relax by the shore. With gorgeous views and pet-friendly trails, Candlewood Lake Park is a great choice for a calm outdoor adventure in the New Milford area.
One of my favorite place 🏞
Drive an hour to get there and it turned out to be a private marina, not a state park. They wouldn’t even let me park there while I figured out where else to go.. I asked if there were any public access spots nearby and they said no.
I go to this park like every summer with my family and it’s always such a fun time. Definitely recommend going the water is so nice to swim in.
Clean, private and quite… Will definitely be back agin
We drove half an hour seeing the photos and the satellite view on Google map that shows there is a spot like a beach and people reviewed it mentioned swimming. However, swimming isn’t allowed here and the spot is really small. Only one family could be there at a time. It’s a beautiful tiny spot as you can see in my photos. The most that can be done here is to deep your feet in the water and you can also take some camping chairs just to relax. Beware of the caterpillars, BTW! We’ve seen several people walking in the trail with their dogs.
