McAllister Dog Park is one of the most popular and spacious dog parks in San Antonio, Texas. Located just off Jones Maltsberger Rd, this park is a favorite among local pet owners for its large, well-maintained fenced areas, shade from tall trees, and abundance of amenities. With 1.5 acres of room to run, the park offers separate spaces for large and small dogs, ensuring safe and enjoyable socialization for all breeds. It’s a top pick for dog-friendly hiking and pet-friendly trails, with paved and dirt paths and easy access to the broader greenway trail system.
Dog owners love the dog park’s cleanliness, readily available water fountains, shaded seating areas, and agility equipment such as ramps and tunnels. Poop bags and trash bins are provided to keep the area tidy. The community atmosphere makes it easy for both pets and owners to make new friends, while responsible dog ownership is encouraged for everyone’s safety. Ample parking and public restrooms make visiting convenient, and the surrounding McAllister Park provides extra amenities like playgrounds and picnic spots for families.
Very large area a lot of shade and the dogs loved the water fountains.
Great park for hiking with your dog,and they have leash free dog park
It’s great as long as responsible owners are there. fights often break out because of irresponsible owners bring they’re nonsocial dogs. Please I implore you be responsible and don’t bring your dog unless you know your dog can handle themselves and can socialize responsibly. Thank you
My partner and I absolutely love coming to McAllister dog Park! Every time we go our big old dork of a girl comes home happy and worn out. The people there are friendly and the park is generally pretty clean. Sometimes people don’t pick up their dogs leaving, but it’s rare to find one. There’s usually quite a few balls around for the dogs to play with. We’ve not so far had any negative encounters with the other dogs. Often it’s our dofus that gets a bit carried away because she doesn’t realize how big she is. We enjoy coming out Saturday mornings to let her run around and burn off some energy. We usually park over by the large field so we can take a walk around the outer edge to get what rambunctious energy she has left out before we load her in the car to go home.
Went Friday June 21 2019. About 40 dogs in the park, really frendly dogs and owners. Most owners are laid back and don’t mind you interacting with or correcting dogs to prevent dominant fights. Even with a wide variety of breeds from small chows to huge Great Danes in one huge 1.5 acre pin you can be assured that your dog won’t have an issue being here. Water on site for the dogs and athletic equipment including ramps and tunnels.
