If you’re looking for a relaxing and accessible dog park in Kansas City, Kansas, St. John’s Dog Park offers a welcoming space for pets and owners. The park is fully fenced, providing a secure environment for dogs to play off-leash. Though the park is smaller in size, it features lovely green grass, panoramic views of the city skyline, and a peaceful vibe, especially during early morning hours or road trips. Street parking is available and easily accessible near the park entrance.
St. John’s Dog Park includes separate sections for small and large dogs, so every pup can find a safe spot. Waste stations with poop bags and trash bins help keep the park tidy, but please note that amenities are minimal—there’s no water fountain, no covered shelter, and limited seating. The park is wheelchair accessible, so everyone can enjoy the space. It may get muddy after rain, and there’s little shade, so plan accordingly on sunny or wet days. Dog owners enjoy the friendly community atmosphere, beautiful skyline views, and easy access to the heart of Kansas City, Kansas.
Big fenced in park. Has been empty when I’ve gone. Has some benches to look over at the city.
Small park but good enough for our dogs to work off some energy during our roadtrip across the country. Nice views of the city skyline.
Pros: Nice green grass, good square footage, pretty nice view.
Cons: No water, no shade, no benches. Muddy in spots. Grass is long so it’s hard to see poop. One latch is broken on the gate. Smaller than I expected since it’s just a fenced and sodded field with no amenities. Also (relevant if you have a large or giant dog) the fence is under 5 feet in places and our giant dog was tempted to try to jump over when she was ready to go.
Other notes: There is a small dog side. It’s very small. There are poop bags and trash cans which is fantastic. The poop bags that are here are all jumbled up and wet. Street parking and plenty available. Also, I’m from California so I may very well be spoiled, idk.
