Wallingford Dog Park is a well-maintained, pet-friendly destination conveniently located just off the highway in Wallingford, CT. This dog park features wheelchair accessible entrances and parking, making it an inclusive spot for all dog owners looking for a dog park in Wallingford, Connecticut. The park offers separate areas for large and small dogs, so pups of all sizes can play off-leash safely. Local visitors love the easy access and mention the friendly community atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for both residents and travelers seeking a quick canine break.
Park-goers will find several benches and shaded areas, as well as picnic tables for relaxing while their dogs explore. The park provides poop bags, trash bins, and tennis balls for your convenience. Though there is no permanent on-site water fountain, water bowls are available, and there may be a hose or water source during warmer months. The grounds are mostly dirt with some grass and woods, so it can get muddy after rain. The book hut is a fun, unique touch for visitors taking a break from their phones. Parking is free and available in a decent-sized lot right by the entrance.
Great dog park with friendly dogs and people! We’ve gone through here on long trips as it’s a quick stop off the highway.
Decent sized park, with a mixture of grass, dirt and woodlands ground cover (when not covered in snow and ice). Bags and trash inside the park.
Park was SUPER icy when we visited.
There would be water during non-freezing months. Separate area for small dogs and a fair number of benches and tables scattered around.
We visited just yesterday on March 20th because we were in the area and I had my dog with me.
My dog was the only dog in the “large dog” side, and there were 2 smaller dogs in the “small dog” side that met her at the fence to bark at her LOL! My dog, a 50 lb. Standard Poodle, simply wagged her tail and observed them for a quick minute before moving on todogay some fetch.
The area for the dogs to run was a decent size. The entire ground was dirt, no grass to be seen, which is why I gave 4 stars. It would be such a beautiful dog park with grass. It certainly has the potential!
There were a few areas to sit. It was really a very basic dog park and it served its purpose for my girl today. There are poop bags provided. There are some boxes labeled “toys” that had a few tennis balls in them. There was a large silver water bowl, but I didn’t see a water source. I’ve seen fountains at other parks so I may have over looked it, or maybe it is installed or set up when it hits a certain temperature, I’m not sure.
The pink-ish “ball” under the garbage can lid, do not kick that ball. That is NOT a bouncy rubber ball. That is a ridiculously HARD PLASTIC BALL and I hurt my toe. I thought I broke it. I whimpered like a giant baby for atleast four hours after that! LOL I actually had to have my son get the damn thing to see if it was a bowling ball. I walked in and kicked it for my dog, fully expecting it to bounce across the park like we do at home. That didn’t happen 😆 it took off a bit, but clearly wasn’t meant to be used for kicking. Avoid the pink ball!!
There was a decent-sized parking lot but it needs a little work (also my reason for 4 stars – I have a lowered car!)
All-in-all I would return if I’m in the area…not on a rainy day, of course!
Great park. Well maintained. separated dog areas for large or small dogs. Nicely shaded. Benches for humans to sit and water access for the dogs
Amazing! People need to realize that this is a park and you will get dirty, especially with dogs running around. Split sides like most dog parks for big dogs and small dogs. Wish there was some type of water fountain/faucet for the dogs, especially since there isn’t much shade
There is also a book hut to take/leave books. Something different than people always staring at their phones.
