If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Arcade Creek Park is a hidden gem for Sacramento dog owners, offering a serene and clean environment tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood. This pet-friendly destination features two fully fenced areas—one for small dogs and another for larger breeds—making it easy for your pup to play and socialize safely. With an abundance of shade from beautiful trees, agility equipment, dog pools, and plenty of toys, pups have everything they need for a fun visit. Benches and shaded seating areas are also provided for owners seeking comfort and relaxation.
The park’s off-leash areas ensure dogs can run free and burn energy, while waste stations with bags and trash bins make clean-up simple. There are paved walking paths around the park, and a creek along the west side adds to the natural vibe. While there is no designated parking lot, ample free street parking is available. With its secluded layout, thoughtful amenities, and friendly community, Arcade Creek Park is ideal for dog lovers looking for a peaceful spot to exercise their furry companions. Whether you seek dog-friendly hiking, pet-friendly trails, or a safe space for reactive or shy dogs, this park is a must-see in Sacramento!
Playgrounds closed and no nets on the tennis courts, hopefully things will be fixed soon.
Update 10/2025: only swings are open, other playground areas are now just mulch, no playgrounds. There were some interesting people hanging out in the park and parking lot when I showed up, if there hadn’t been a guy with me I would’ve left. But after a while it was a less shady crowd. So I would come again with some caution.
We were able to use 1 restoom. Others were locked. What happened to the playgrounds?

Arcade Creek Park is a hidden gem nestled in a very pleasant residential area off of Hackberry between Winding Way and Madison. I stumbled upon this wonderful spot while riding around Carmichael on my bicycle. I’ve lived within a couple miles of the park for over a decade, but I didn’t know it existed until recently. Surprisingly uncrowded, the grounds are quiet and clean. It’s equipped with courts for both basketball and tennis. However, the best feature of this lovely place is the dog park. There are two fenced-off areas, one for small dogs and another for larger breeds to run and play in. I’ve been back many times with my beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier “Savvy” who gives the park two enthusiastic paws up.

I walked to Arcade Creek Park, a neighborhood park, while visiting family in Sacramento for Easter, for the first time. It was quite a pleasant experience.
The park has the typical amenities such as swings, slides, sandboxes to entertain children. There were several areas with picnic tables.
There is a creek running along the west side. There is an abundance of small animals and birds inhabiting the park and creek. I saw squirrels, wild turkeys that can fly, and numerous other birds.
The park has a cemented walking path around the perimeter of the park. The park also has a fenced area where your dogs can be taken off their leash.

I like this park along because it is away from major foot traffic and heavily populated areas.
The dog area is beautiful. I take my dogs to this park to play all time time.
Side note: There are occasionally transients there and I saw needles in a trash can.

Seems like a good park, I just wish there was more seating. The park benches are spread very far out. But the kids have fun, the little library is a cute idea, and the squirrels are even friendly!
