Pine Lake Trailhead is a hidden gem for pet owners seeking a dog-friendly hiking and park experience in Shelton, CT. Nestled among calming pine trees, this spot offers scenic, pet-friendly trails perfect for walking, hiking, biking, and enjoying the natural beauty of Connecticut. Known for its relaxing atmosphere and magical woodland areas like the “faerie forest,” this park gives both humans and pups a peaceful escape from the bustle of town.
Pine Lake Trailhead features a dedicated, fenced-in dog area (located at Love’s Travel Station nearby) that is very clean, well-maintained, and includes seating for owners. While the fenced dog park is in full sun (so be sure to pack water and shade for your pup!), the surrounding area offers shady forested paths for longer hikes. The multi-use trails are mostly flat and accessible, with benches scattered throughout for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
A few options for trails. Fairly well marked.

One of the few places I’ve found around here with pine trees. They are just so calming. I hope the faerie forest comes back this year, it was very magical. There is also great care taken of the paths and side paths. Just love it.

Nice path with many options of lenght and mostly flat. Open for bikes and dogs and a few spots to park along the trail. It’s close to small roads so it’s not as quiet as other trials bit still a pretty place for a hike.
