I have hiked both of these trails and they are my absolute favorites

Brian

The trail was a horrible experience. Covered in seed ticks and 50 spider webs

We were not prepared for the bugs. Prepare for them if you choose to hike. We only hiked a half hour in
What we did hike was level and relatively easy.

I have hiked both of these trails and they are my absolute favorites. The longer trail (blazed in red) is definitely harder. You need to bring water and maybe snacks but you must be in shape. Not only is the trail more difficult, but there is also no way to make it shorter.
The 4.5 mile trail is easier and can be completed by children and beginners.
Be advised that this is also a horse trail. Whereas everyone you encounter on foot is always happy to see another hiker and friendly, our experience with riders is always the exact opposite.
That doesn’t stop us and I hope it won’t stop you!

Nice time in the woods. Nothing special about it. I did the north loop. South looks like it goes past the lake. It was over 12 miles long. Too far for my shih-tzu/bichon pooch. We also did the woodland trail. About 8 miles total. Hit a small deer on hwy 42 during the golden hour on the way to the park

Awesome morning quick hike, around four miles. Saw deer, wild turkeys, bunch of beautiful insects like bright green beetles and gorgeous butterflies. Some places were muddy, bring good shoes, crossed streams many times on this loop hike.
