Pine Banks Dog Park is a spacious and conveniently located dog park in Melrose, MA. Known for its ample size, the park features two fully fenced sections: one for large dogs and another for small or shy dogs, making it a versatile spot for all breeds and sizes. With a gravel surface, it offers a mud-free play area, especially beneficial after rain or snow, and is easy to access with plenty of parking available nearby.
While the gravel base helps keep paws clean, some dogs may find the texture unfamiliar at first. The park provides waste bags but does not offer water fountains or dedicated shade, so guests are encouraged to bring their own water and be mindful on sunny days. There is some seating available, mostly in the large dog run, but benches are limited. Pine Banks Dog Park stands out in the Melrose area for its large play spaces and friendly local dog community.
Pros
– convenient location
– plenty of parking
– two separate sections for large and small dogs
– size! Huge compared to other dog parks in the area. Each of the two sections is a good sized park by itself
– gravel stone surface. can be a good thing since your dog’s paws don’t bring mud home especially after rains
Cons
– gravel stone. Many dogs don’t like it and prefer mulch/dirt surface found in other nearby parks
– no water. Bring water for your dog
– no lights for after dark use. could be useful when the days are short
– no trees in or around the park for shade.
Nice park! We came with our dog on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few other dogs there. The area was super big with lots of room to play. The gravel was hard to walk on and our dog seemed to not feel totally comfortable running on it (but he’s a baby). I wish there was a water fountain or obstacles – just some amenities to help occupy the dogs longer. It also needs more benches! There are only two in the large dog run.
Huge dog park that’s in a convenient location at Pine Banks Park. The park is gravel which some dogs don’t like but is nice in the rain and snow because it’s not muddy. The park is large and flat with no shade. It could be better if it had water and some obstacles for the dogs to enjoy.
Great size, small gravel/rocks throughout. Bags were stocked in the holders. Separate area for small dogs is nice. No benches or anything else, though.
Nice dog park, separate fenced area for small or shy dogs. good group of people and dogs on most mornings. I have a small dog and she goes in the large dog area to play most days Pea gravel base, which some dogs find weird, but most are fine with. so much less muddy and gross than wood chips. The Parking lot is a bit rough from the winter but, should be leveled in the spring
