Durham Park Off Leash Area is a standout choice for dog lovers seeking a spacious, well-maintained dog park in Portland, Oregon. Spanning over 2.5 acres of grassy, gently sloping fields, this park is fully fenced and double-gated to ensure safety for all pets. Both dogs and their humans will appreciate the lush open space, pet-friendly trails, convenient parking, and the natural shade provided by mature trees along the pathways. The park also features direct water access, making it perfect for dogs who enjoy cooling off in the river during warmer months.
This park attracts a friendly community of dog owners and offers a relaxing environment with plenty of seating and picnic tables for visitors. It is connected to a larger trail network (Durham City Park, Tualatin Community Park, and Cook Park), making it ideal for longer walks, jogging, and outdoor adventures. While the main dog zone is primarily dirt and sand (which can get hot and dusty in summer), the surrounding lawns and paths are both scenic and shaded, adding to its appeal. Visitors note that the park is clean, dog owners are usually attentive, and amenities like water spigots, waste bags, and lighting are available.
This is far and away the best dog park. 2 1/2 acres of grass let’s them run hard. My dogs love going there.

This is a very well maintained neighborhood off leash dog park and we have had a mix of experiences leaning towards positive here. Pros : lovely large grass area with some shady tree areas and river access. We have met some great dogs and owners! Cons : a few times we have gone and by chance it’s been a group of non social/aggressive dogs. We are very understanding and chill with dogs being dogs rough housing safely, but have struggled with trying to avoid 3+ aggressive dogs at a time when ours are super friendly and just want to play in their happy, social place. We still continue to come back, but have to be on guard and scope the place out upon arriving to be respectful of whatever pups with boundaries are present. Overall, very well kept up and our dogs love to cool down at the water off the path.

The gated dog park isn’t very exciting but it’s a place to take your pooches leash off so there’s that I guess. Per the review from a yr ago, the off leash area was not closed in previously. So glad it is now. But the whole park is very nice for long walks with the fur babies. Lots of distance to cover on paved or nature trails/paths. We saw folks walking jogging and biking during our visit. I only wish there were signs saying how long (what distance) each path is and where it takes you. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. And with the many trees that line each path you’ll have plenty of shade in warmer months.
