Located just outside Albuquerque, the Lower Pine Trailhead offers pet-friendly hiking and scenic trails for dogs and their owners. This dog-friendly park in Tijeras, New Mexico, is popular for its peaceful atmosphere, ample shade from mature trees, and easy access to a network of multi-use trails. Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout, and there are plenty of trash bins to help keep the area clean.
Lower Pine Trailhead stands out for its mix of hiking, mountain biking, and off-roading trails that wind through the forested hills. While there are no water fountains, and the conditions might be muddy after rain, this spot is great for adventurous outings with your dog. Please remember to bring your own water and waste bags, and pick up after your pets to help maintain this gem. Day camping, picnics, and barbecues are allowed, making this dog park a fantastic all-day destination for families and furry companions alike.

Nice area to take a hike, several trails meet around the same parking lot. It’s not too far or rough of a gravel road to get to the trailhead, but you aren’t going to want to drive further up the road without a very high clearance, 4 wheel drive truck.
My only complaint is that too many people don’t clean up after their dogs, which is especially apparent around the parking lot. Come on folks, pick up or bury your dog poop and carry your trash out! Let’s keep this area looking nice for everyone’s use.

HIKERS BEWARE! Trails are all mud and ripped up from dirt bikes. Awesome trails for dirt biking (even though signs against it) and if dry I’d assume for mountain biking. Hiking wise I’d stick to the other side of 40.
