Nestled along the scenic Suwannee River, Royal Springs is a beloved spot for those seeking a pet-friendly adventure in O’Brien, FL. Known for its stunning 72-degree clear springs, this park welcomes families and their dogs for swimming, hiking, and relaxing picnics. While there are ample picnic tables, barbecue grills, and covered pavilions, the highlight for many visiting with pets is the refreshing swim area right beside the river, making it a unique destination for dog owners looking for a place to cool off with their pets.
Royal Springs offers paved walkways, wheelchair-accessible amenities, and serene natural surroundings. It’s a great location for both outdoor enthusiasts and pet lovers, providing plenty of shade, scenic hiking trails, and a well-kept boat ramp. This is the best springs in Florida!
Beautiful very clean park with paved walkways, picnic area and a nice well kept boat ramp. We were there in February so no one was swimming. The walkways down to the water are well built, one had a rock climbing wall (pictured) to get out of the water. It was posted “No dogs allowed” once we got halfway down into the park but we did have our dogs with us. No sign posted at the entrance that we saw. It is close to Peacock Springs so check them both out.
Well maintained park, 5 $ admission, short walk to the springs. The swimming area is beautiful with super clear water and very light current. We visited on Saturday, December 28, and there were maybe 10 other people. We enjoyed beautiful spring, towering trees, and serene vibes, but I can imagine it gets very crowded during summer. Spring is about 30-40 feet deep and great for easy diving down to the submerged platform . Diving deck was a very nice plus. Water is 72 degrees year round, so it’s swimmable even in a dead of winter . Overall, it’s a great place, and I will definitely visit again, but not when it’s super crowded.
We highly recommend this beautiful spring! Definitely worth the drive the water is so blue, you can jump from a platform! There are many tables and grilles and pavilions to enjoy! We cooked there today! Thank you Florida for being so beautiful!
I’ve known of this place for many years, so much so at the time it didn’t even have but maybe 20 reviews. It was always free to get in. But here we are a year has gone by and it’s official, they will be charging NULL/car payment via card only starting in the next week or two. (It’s 11/6/2024).
We met a diver who said it’s about 40 feet deep with a cavern.
The water is pretty cold at about 71/72° year round.
If you’re an avid spring jumper — there’s no changing area, no showers, no lifeguard, no rentals, & no food.
There was an emergency phone.
