The one star reviews can be safely ignored as the park has been updated. There are benches inside and outside of both dog parks as well as double fences at both park entries. It’s a nice neighborhood dog park.

I hope someone from the Clay County will read this. Being a passionate dog owner and visiting various dog parks one thing I noticed that seemed off was the park bench’s were outside of the dog area facing the road. As a dog owner you are supposed to be able to watch your dog at all times and be able to react quickly if necessary. If the county could do these three things I think dog owners would use this area more. Place the park benches on the inside of the gates, cut down some of those trees(it’s not a lot of clear running area for dogs to run without having to dodge a tree, add pine straw to the grounds since the ground doesn’t have a lot of grass. I’m happy there is a dog park that is in the county now. Especially gated and one for small dogs. 🙂 Great start!

(For reference I am a long time resident of Clay County)

This park is a waste of resources. It is brand new yet is in need of a total redesign. There are two areas: large dog and small dog. The small dog area is the size of my residential backyard and the large dog area is only slightly bigger. There is a bench for humans to sit on but it is OUTSIDE the fenced dog area, FACING AWAY FROM THE DOGS. There is a water fountain and yet again it is OUTSIDE the fenced dog area. These items should be INSIDE with the dogs. Also, the entrance gate is a single gate. Dog parks require a double gate transition area where you take your dogs leash on/off and prevent escape of other dogs. The only thing done right is there is poop bags and trash inside… except there is dog poop on ground because people aren’t cleaning up after their dog. I was really excited for there to be a free public dog park but this place is a total disappointment.

This place is brand new and probably okay for smaller dogs since it’s about the size of a back yard. It’s free and a good start for the county.
