Short trail along the property of the old Grantville VFW. There’s a Manada Conservancy workshop / shed up top where the gravel / dirt parking lot is. Loop trail is nice, but can get muddy in certain places. Great for wildlife watching.
I enjoy the peace here, not ever very busy and has nice trails.
Nice little hike and I LOVE the solitude. I stopped in a couple of times in the late afternoon and never saw another person, and I can see my old elementary school from the trial, brings back fond memories. It would be nice if it was cleared out a bit along the little creek.
This place has great potential. The signs and map out front are beautiful and helpful, but the area in the far back left a lot to be desired. The back section was run down and felt somewhat sketchy, so we went back to the entrance and up to the right to park. The mile-ish long trail is pretty, shaded and easy to navigate. The ‘natural’ benches along the way were a nice touch. The QR codes on the posts were helpful and informative.
I’m not sure what I expected, but this definitely is not it. Didn’t see any trail markers and got the impression this is no trespassing area. I will not be back.
