It was 5 stars today. I was here as the sun was going down on 12/17/21 (a warmer than usual winter day). The incandescent light of the sun bouncing all around combined with the tranquility made for a moment of magic to transform the stress to calm.

The Peninsula isn’t really on the way to anywhere, so anyone there is there to enjoy a beautiful spot, see some nature, and have some quiet time. And that is a pretty good description of what you will find there. Some of the largest and oldest trees in the park (and the city) are here. You can never entirely get away from the distant sounds of cars honking or sirens in the distance, and the music from the skating rink right across the water is present, but it’s one of the most peaceful spots I have found.
