The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail at Hudson Rd in Sudbury, Massachusetts, is a popular spot for pet owners seeking dog-friendly outdoor activities. The trail offers flat, paved paths perfect for leisurely walks and scenic hikes with your pup. Known for its peaceful, rustic New England scenery, the area features wooded trails, streams, picturesque ponds, small bridges, and open meadows—ideal for a year-round dog walk.
This dog-friendly trail is praised for its excellent maintenance, with reviews noting its cleanliness and the absence of waste. Although dogs must be kept on a leash (as there is a no off-leash policy now), it’s a wonderful place for dog owners looking for a safe, scenic, and accessible hiking experience. There’s plenty of parking nearby, restrooms, playgrounds for children, picnic tables, and sports fields, making it a great destination for the whole family. Be prepared for mud after rain and bugs in the summer, and enjoy the shaded areas along the way.
It was great. Very rustic but no hills and quite scenic.
Amazing place to run bike from Sudbury to Acton to Lowell
Love this place
Very well done. It is flat, straight and paved. People using the trail were respectful. Saying hello or scooting out of the way as necessary. The trail is clean (no dog poop bags or waste). We parked at the town hall per website recommendation and then walked over to the trail head.
Wide, peaceful trail and no chance of getting a tick bite. So nice!
