Known for its spacious campsites, friendly hosts, and no-frills atmosphere, this spot is popular with outdoor enthusiasts and mountain bikers. With direct access to world-class trails and a nearby stream, Stokesville is ideal for dog-friendly hiking and relaxing in nature with your pup.
While this campground does not have a dedicated dog park or fenced dog areas, it boasts pet-friendly trails and ample open space to walk your dog on-leash. Campers love the easy access to water at the nearby stream and the shaded spots provided by the trees surrounding many campsites. With primitive amenities like vault toilets and picnic tables, Stokesville is all about simple, memorable moments with your canine companion in the heart of western Virginia.
Sick campground. Trails in the area are world class and being able to ride directly to and from camp is amazing. Also reddish is an incredible spot.
Lovely campground. All the amenities you need, none that you don’t. Allowed me my choice of a few tent sites available while making the best suggestions based on our camping setup and local recommendations where appreciated and spot-on. Stokesville as a whole was a perfect example of quintessential rural western Virginia. A return trip is definitely in my future.
Great no-frills campground tucked in the mountains. We stayed a few days in July. Booked RV24 since it was closest to the cabins/tent area where friends were staying. Bad news: the electric box was wired incorrectly so we couldn’t get power. Good news: the campground was nearly empty so we moved to a pull thru spot. All the spots (RV, tent, cabins) are spacious. Camp hosts were friendly. Loved the watering hole near the entrance to the camp. Would definitely stay here again.
Outdoor enthusiasts and mountain bikers rejoice. A true campground with the amenities that matter. The campsites are in good condition with a fire pit and the tables may or may not be present.
This campground shines with the mountain bike trails in the campground and access to miles of trails in the local area.
The camp hosts are fantastic and have wood for sale. The online camp site reservation system is intuitive and helps with the site selection with the pictures.
Of note, the sites up the hill only allow high clearance vehicles and something to consider for ease of access in and out of the camp site. These sites are on the main access road past the first three-way split in the road.
Another gem is the stream access at the bridge. Plenty of parking with a short walk to the stream with cool clean water.
Stayed in one of the smaller sites (111) and really enjoyed the campground! The site was more spacious than advertised and very pretty. Showers were hot, although they did not drain well at all. Some people also played music out loud, which wasn’t great especially when it was outside of typical quiet hours. I did enjoy the trail system in and around the campground!
