This location is perfect for dog owners seeking a scenic and relaxing stroll with their furry friends. The paved trail meanders alongside the historic railroad and the Androscoggin River, providing beautiful views, mild inclines, and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for dog-walking, jogging, and family outings. Several woodland paths branch off from the paved trail, allowing for more adventurous hiking experiences.
The park features multiple parking areas, picnic tables, benches along the route, and wide, well-maintained paths that are stroller- and wheelchair-friendly. Waste bag stations are provided to help maintain cleanliness, and port-a-potties are available for visitors. You’ll enjoy plenty of shade from the surrounding woodlands, making it a comfortable destination year-round. Whether you’re looking for a quiet walk, a place to unwind with nature, or a dog-friendly trail in Lisbon, Maine, the Lisbon Rail Trail is a top choice.
This was the first time we ever walked on the rail trail; typically, we walk at Papermill Trail. On this day though, we decided to head under the bridge to explore the Rail Trail. I’m glad we did! The paved trail is great for walking, jogging, running, and dog-walking. I’m not sure if skateboards are allowed, but it might be nice for that if so. The trail is not flat but is still easy, and it is adjacent to an out-of-service railroad track. The tracks/trail meander along the Androscoggin River, and there are some great views. We walked down to the bench/picnic table area and back, which I think was ~1.5 miles. As an added wildlife bonus, there were many pigeons roosting under the bridge. I do believe we could have kept walking a bit further in order to come out on a different road, but we didn’t choose that option.
Nice, paved trail that follows the railroad and the Androscoggin River.
Some picnic tables here and there. And there appears to be several parking spots available throughout the length of the trail.
Such a beautiful place to walk and relax and just unwind from a busy day
The Lisbon Rail Trail is well maintained and well marked so you can park at any of 4locations and gauge your distance. Inclines are mild and there are many places along the trail to sit and enjoy nature be it the river, the brook and dam, the scenery or the outlet.
I enjoy this trail because it is quiet and close to home. I take my beagle Bella for walks on this trail and she always has her nose to the ground. The walk is easy and great for biking. The only downside would be that some people leave their dogs feces on the walkway. They provide bags for that.
