Lovely trail to get away and feel like your in the Amazon Rainforest with no crowds. Its an easy hike .7 mile with steps from either direction, it’s pretty much a loop, we started near the summit and it ends back in the parking lot, it’s mostly downhill from this higher starting point.
Great trail thst had sections of being easy andi areas that were moderate. Our 2 weiner dogs loved it. Beautiful nature. It was a cooler overcast day but well worth the hike.
Very nice. A little steep if you’re a new hiker but definitely a gorgeous view around the forest that will lead to an amazing view on Mt. Mitchell. I went during early November and the temperature was about 45°F
Beautiful Trail, you find the trailhead on the way to the summit. The first part is very easy and if you keep going it transitions into Mount Mitchell trail or on Alltrails Commissary Ridge to Commissary Hill Trail. This is definitely more moderate because there are lots of steps and switchbacks also some muddy areas. This area seems very mossy and not alot of undergrowth. Really stunning highly recommend.
What a great hike. It felt like another world. I can see why people could create gnomes and elves in the woods. Although I was never far from the parking lot, I felt I was all alone. A great way to experience an alpine forest.
