It is fairly flat, well marked, peaceful. It is wooded, shady, probably originally packed gravel but more like packed dirt now.

I LOVE this trail! It’s easy but all the way back and forth is 14 miles! There is SO MUCH beauty on this trail as it follows the Piney River all the way down! AND I got to see a river otter while eating my lunch here!!! It’s a must see!
Wonderful bike trail- varied scenes along path with trestles to cross and a small covered bridge. Peaceful.
Didn’t plan on stopping here but thought it would be a nice walk/hike with my family. My granddaughter spotted a calf that had gotten out of the fence and got injured in the process. Growing up on a ranch and being the animal lover I am, I COULD NOT LEAVE IT. So I made my city husband(lol) help me carry it to a place in the fence we could open enough to put it through.
As far as the trail, it was clean but the “hiker” in me wanted more.

This rail trail was developed from an old railroad line that was used to haul timber to the saw mill(s). This is not a really long trial with 2 access points. Also this is an out-and-back trail that’s approximately 6.75 miles long, for a total of 13.5 miles round trip. Like all rail trails it’s relatively flat so overall is a pretty easy ride. Overall the trail is well maintained and goes along a large stream with 4 or 5 bridges you cross and is a pretty scenic ride. There are several picnic areas and lots of benches overlooking the stream.
