Located at 1514 N Larrabee St, Park #598 is a beloved community spot in Chicago nestled near the Sedgwick brown line stop. Known for being a popular gathering point where dogs and their owners can socialize, this park is currently undergoing a complete renovation. Once praised as a hidden gem, Park #598 has long provided a safe area for dogs to roam off-leash and enjoy the outdoors, set conveniently in a vibrant urban neighborhood. Note: The park is currently closed for construction as of June 2025, but there are aspirations in the community for the renovations to include an official fenced dog play area.
Prior to its closure, Park #598 was described as a dog-friendly picnic site, offering well-kept public spaces, open lawns, some seating, and well-lit pathways—making it a pleasant option for evening visits. The park was known to have a fenced area for pups, though some noted a lack of grass and limited shade. Families and pet lovers enjoy the location for its accessibility, local community events, and proximity to sports areas and transportation.
Closed for construction as of June 2025. Knowing Chicago this will take at least 5 trillion years
This park is closed and being completely renovated. Prior to it’s closure, this was a popular place for doggies to run free and socialize along with their human companions. We live two blocks away and we do not have an “official” Dog Free Area nearby so I am hoping when the renovations are completed, it includes a closed off area for canines and their friends.
Redo the track and plant some trees. Otherwise it’s great being underdeveloped and useful for dogs to roam off leash
I love this park and I hope they don’t do anything to it. It’s perfect as it is, maybe some calisthenics, but everybody in the neighborhood is enjoying it.
Nice little park hidden by the Sedgwick brown line stop. Good place to walk a dog. The track is in need of repairs and doesn’t have much going for it.
