Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park is a favorite local destination for dog owners in Overland Park, Kansas. The park features a massive, well-maintained fenced dog park where dogs are welcome to roam off-leash. The space offers plenty of room for pups to run, socialize, and explore both paved and natural walking trails. Shaded wooded areas on the west side provide relief on hot days, while the east side boasts a quiet pond surrounded by cattails, making this dog park a relaxing spot for pets and owners alike.
Beyond the dog park itself, Stoll Park offers amenities such as covered picnic shelters, benches, and paved paths that connect directly to the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) campus. The park is known for its scenic, pet-friendly trails, clean grounds, and ample parking, making it a convenient and enjoyable spot for dog-friendly outings, family picnics, or a peaceful walk with your four-legged friend.
We reserved the only reservable shelter at this park for our church group, and overall, it was a great experience! The shelter was conveniently located near the playground, and the walking trail was a nice bonus.
*The Good:*
– The park grill was in decent condition, and we were able to use it without any issues.
– The electrical outlets were a big plus, allowing us to power our electric smoker grill.
– The tables were in nice condition, and the shelter provided ample space for our group.
*The Not-So-Good:*
– The outdated reservation schedule sign was a bit confusing – it would be great to update it to reflect current reservations.
– The portable toilet near the shelter wasn’t the most convenient, especially with a nicer restroom option farther away.
– The park grill’s design made it hard to control airflow, which affected our grilling experience.
*Overall:*
Despite some minor issues, we had a great time at the park, and the shelter was a great spot for our group. If you’re looking for a park with a reservable shelter and some nice amenities, this might be the place for you!
Stoll Park is a wonderful green space tucked into suburban Overland Park. It features a large off-leash dog park that’s often lively and well-used by local dog owners. In addition to several soccer fields, the park boasts a surprisingly extensive and well-maintained trail system for its size. The west side offers some nice wooded areas that provide a bit of shade and natural scenery, while the east side has a charming little pond bordered by cattails, perfect for a peaceful stroll or a quick nature break. One of the best features is that the trails connect directly to the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) campus on the north end, making it a convenient spot for students and community members alike.
This park was a great find for my boys! They are 10 and 6 and it was perfectly appropriate for them; there was a younger child there that struggled with some of the equipment but with some help from her parents she still had fun. My only complaint is that there’s very little shade, so the equipment was pretty hot, but otherwise, it’s wonderful!
This is one of my favorite parks to come to when I’m in the area. It has a massive fenced in dog park that you can walk through with your dog. Some of it is paved. Lots of areas to roam. Or they have paved trails outside of the dog park if you’d rather take a walk around the park.
This park is really nice. The dog park is a pretty decent size, and the little pond area is super quiet and relaxing, with plenty of space to sit around it. There are also a few benches, if you don’t have a chair. The trail going around it is paved and well kept. The playground area is decent, as well. Overall, it’s a very good spot.
