The Henniker Line Rail Trail offers a scenic, pet-friendly hiking experience just north of the river in Henniker, NH. This 2.1-mile wide, unpaved trail winds through the woods and welcomes dog owners looking for outdoor adventures with their pets. The well-maintained path is suitable for walking, biking, and exploring with your canine companion. Ample parking is available at the eastern end near the Hopkinton Dam, making access convenient for locals and visitors alike.
This dog-friendly trail is a local favorite for families and pet owners thanks to its natural beauty and relaxing atmosphere. Dogs are welcome and enjoy swimming in the river alongside their owners. Although the park may not have fenced areas or explicit dog amenities, the expansive trail and river access offer plenty of room for dogs to explore, play, and cool off during warmer months. Plan your visit for a beautiful woodland walk and a splash in the river—just remember to bring your own waste bags and supplies, as facilities for dog waste disposal are not explicitly provided.
Hike is very nice. Would like to see better communication as to parking area locations.
The 2.1 mile Henniker Line Rail Trail is a wide unpaved trail through the woods North of the river. At the Eastern end it can be picked up at the foot of the Hopkinton Dam where there’s plenty of parking. At the Western end it terminates at a demolished river crossing, through you can continue along an additional 1.6 mile long link trail to Old Concord Road.
The trail is mostly easy to ride with hybrid bikes, though some muddy patches towards the Hopkinton Dam caused us a minor inconvenience. Thanks thanks to the hard work of the Henniker snowmobile club the trail is well maintained.
