🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Boland Park is a cozy community park located off Dogwood Drive in West Orange, New Jersey. Known for its quiet atmosphere and dedicated local following, the park features a gated playground, baseball field, and paved access—making it an accessible, family-friendly spot. For dog owners seeking a pet-friendly outing, the park offers open grassy areas near the playground and athletic fields where your leashed dog can enjoy a stroll or playtime. The park is wheelchair accessible and provides a relaxing environment away from busy main roads, ideal for those looking for a peaceful dog park in West Orange.
Highlights include dedicated parking close to the entrance, a secure, double-gated playground to keep children (and pets) safe, and shade provided by mature trees during most of the year. While Boland Park does not have a formal off-leash dog area or separate enclosures for large and small dogs, it is a welcoming place for on-leash walks and casual exercise. Do note, however, that the park’s proximity to wooded areas can mean an increase in mosquitoes during certain seasons, so plan ahead for a comfortable visit.
Pickle ball courts have tennis nets.
Nice surface/backboards/rims for basketball. Field is nice condition easy parking great playground on one of the nicest streets in West Orange !
Not good enough for a large soccer practice, but solid baseball field, decent playground for the age group I coach. No actual parking lot can be a bit annoying, but there is enough space. The location is a little off the main roads, but dealing with no traffic is a plus, unlike a larger public park.
I’ve lived in town for over 10 years and have never come across this very small park. It has a decent playground area but the baseball field is small and sits extremely close to a largely overgrown wooded area. This time of year it’s hard to watch kids play while you’re being eaten alive by mosquitoes. The town really needs to clean this one up. Would not visit again unless my kid has a baseball game here.
Pros:
– Gated playground with 2 entrances to protect running kids.
– Dedicated parking
Cons:
– Narrow residential streets
– No kids during day time. Can be a bit creepy as it is very quiet and distant.
