Washington Park Dog Run, conveniently tucked between 3rd and 4th Streets off 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, is a recently renovated dog park that draws pet owners from the surrounding neighborhoods. Known for its prime location near family-friendly amenities and residential areas, this dog run is fully fenced and wheelchair accessible, making it easy for everyone to enjoy some playtime with their dogs. Thanks to recent upgrades, the park now features artificial turf and a reorganized layout, reducing the mess and creating a comfortable surface for your dog to romp freely.
This dog park stands out in Brooklyn for its separate spaces designed for both large and small dogs, allowing pups of all sizes their own area to socialize and play safely. You’ll find complimentary seating and benches for owners, as well as shade for hot days. While there are water fountains available, these may occasionally be out of service, so it’s smart to bring your own water just in case. Washington Park Dog Run is a much-appreciated green space in a bustling city that offers a safe, pet-friendly spot for your dog to let loose.
this park is the only dog run in the near vicinity and has been closed for 9 months for a NULLm renovation that has absolutely glacial work done on it. we walk by once a week and there is never construction work being done during business hours. appears it mustve cost NULLk an hour based on the amount of time spent actually updating it. insane it takes this long and this much city money to repave, add a few benches and put down astroturf.
Much improved with the recent renovations. The water fountains are often shut off for some reason though.
The new redesign works very well. It dog doesn’t come home dirty anymore, and the better constructed areas allow all sizes of dogs to have their own space.
It’s fine. Small. There are two separate parks for big and little dogs. In a good area. Not really enough room for a dog that likes to chase a ball. Better for wrestling dogs. Ground is turf which is nice.
Lot’s of poop. Just gravel so be careful when walking. It’s small so not ideal when it gets busy. And it’s a bit hidden. It’s in between the handball courts. Not much of a separation between small dogs and big dogs so beware.
Update 2.11.25: haven’t been here in s while and it improved soooo much. After my boys vet visit i brought him here as a treat. There’s grass now!!! A separated small dog section. Looks so nice now! Dogs were friendly.
