This was a lot harder. We started from the south end, going north. Had a little trouble finding the beginning of trail. Not well marked from roadside. The trail got steeper and rocky in places. Some younger people turned back because of the incline. It is beautiful though the waterfall was a bit disappointing.
Highly doable and satisfying day hike. We hiked a loop, heading first to the Slacks Overlook before hiking downhill toward the falls. Don’t let the 1000 foot elevation gain intimidate you. The areas of ascent are spread out throughout the hike and are fairly gradual. I’m not fit at all and managed it just fine in less than 3 hours. (AllTrails suggests 2 hours 20 minutes). The views are beautiful.
This is a great hike located across the road from the parking lot. It is about 1.3 miles to the bottom of the falls (pretty easy downhill hike). Then continue another 0.5 miles to the top falls (more strenuous uphill trek). Great double falls with beautiful clear water pools and lots of rocks to rest on. This trail continues to another parking lot on the parkway but we just turned around.
Very easy and uncomplicated trail. The trailhead is located across de road from the parking lot. It’s a 1.4 miles descend to the falls or approximately 30 minutes. Few rocks in the trail so, wear appropriate shoes to avoid a twisted ankle. Dog friendly.
