Waterlands Park is a popular community park in South Orange Village, NJ, known for its pet-friendly amenities and beautiful green spaces. This park welcomes dog owners and offers a scenic, accessible environment with plenty of parking, making it convenient for local residents and visitors. The loop around the fields is perfect for dog walkers and those looking for pet-friendly trails in Essex County.
While Waterlands Park doesn’t have designated off-leash or fenced dog areas, it’s a well-loved spot for walking your dog, enjoying nature, and mingling with friendly locals. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained fields, though it’s important to note that the park is part of a rainwater management system, so the grounds can become soggy after heavy rain. The park also offers a playground, swings, and unique sculptures, making it suitable for families with children as well as pet owners.
A great part of the town, with well-maintained fields. It is important to remember this park is actually a part of a rainwater management system and is purposely put there to flood so other places don’t. It can be very soggy after a rain. The playground equipment is nothing fantastic, and a little worn, but fine.
Probably should not say this… No people at all. A few people working out but don’t stay beyond their run or stretch. The playground is still closed. The loop around the fields is great for bikes and scooters.
Decent but nothing special. Fields can be messy and with litter(yes even beer bottles)which doesn’t surprise. Portapotties are needed more around as the 2 by side field aren’t cutting it(also filthy). Luckily the woods provide great alternative as enough privacy
Pleasant park to enjoy nature, also has a nice group of area schulptures. The new age art is a nice intro to a fun walk. Many dog walkers. Nice people! We
Nice lot plenty places to park. However plan to spend some time walking back to the South Orange train station. Not the place to park if you work or intend to come back to your car when its extremely late and its dark as it is in a rather remote location.
