Fairview Park is a welcoming community green space located in the heart of Poughkeepsie, New York. While primarily designed for families and children—featuring a playground, pavilion, and expansive fields—the park is also a popular spot for dog owners thanks to its open areas, pet-friendly trails, and scenic views of the Hudson River. This local park is especially appreciated for its clean, peaceful atmosphere and beautiful river vistas, making it a wonderful place for a stroll or a relaxing outing with your pup.
The park offers amenities such as on-street parking, plenty of benches, and a pavilion for shade. Walkers and joggers can enjoy the well-kept trails that connect directly to the Walkway Over the Hudson and the Dutchess Rail Trail, both known for their dog-friendly policies. While not heavily crowded, especially on weekends, the park’s open spaces and fields provide ample room to play, roam, and soak in nature with your four-legged friend.
We need a park like jungle park this park is good but because the mulch the kids easy get scratches.
Clean, pleasant, and has adequate seating and on the street parking. Be mindful, it has limited shade, but luckily all equipment is plastic.
Very good for toddlers, the park has a special playset for kids 2-5. Otherwise minimal facilities, plastic toi-toi, street parking only – definitely intended to be a neighborhood park, only serving the people who live nearby. Was not busy on a Saturday afternoon (July 2021).
Nice size for smaller children and decent size field to do other activities. Barely anyone there if your trying to do social distancing!
My kids love to play here
