🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in Amelia, Ohio, Spencer Shank Memorial Park Dog Park is a community favorite for dog lovers looking for a safe, friendly, and convenient place to let their pets play. This well-maintained park features a fenced off-leash area where dogs can run freely and socialize while owners enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The park is known for its welcoming atmosphere and accessibility, with a wheelchair-accessible parking lot and paths leading to the dog area, making it a great spot for everyone in the family—including kids and four-legged friends.
Although the dog park is on the smaller side, visitors appreciate its cleanliness and the sense of community among regulars, who are diligent about picking up after their pets and keeping the environment tidy. The park has distinct areas for small and large dogs, though some reviews mention the need for fence repairs and additional benches for improved comfort. With pet-friendly trails and nearby disc golf, Spencer Shank Memorial Park offers a variety of recreational options for both pets and their owners.
Looked like frizby golf.
The fence needs fixed. Dogs can squeeze under the fence between the small and large dog park and out of the park. I’m very disappointed in this dog park after many years of using it for my dogs.
The park is just the right size. Most everyone picks up after their dogs & are good at keeping the dogs under control. The bad thing is not enough benches
They have a disc golf course nearby that is very well maintained and renovated. If anyone sees any vandalism, please report it. The maintenance maintains this area as an act of goodwill and is not paid for it.
Nice, but pretty small. Could use more benches. There is only one in each area.
Luckily, no one was there, so I could easily work with my dog on her training commands. Would be nice if they added an additional area with some agility equipment. It is great for dogs that need more mental stimulation than running around an empty yard.
My biggest complaint is the parking or the lack of parking closer to the dog park. There are two tiny parking lots at the opposite end of the park. Do not park in the one for Disc golf because there is no easy way to access the dog park from there. You will need to use the parking that is on Canary Lane and then walk the path to the dog park.
