Southside Park, also known as Floral Ave Park, is a vibrant community park located in Johnson City, New York. While primarily a family recreation spot with playgrounds, pools, sports courts, and picnic areas, it is also a popular destination for pet owners looking for a dog-friendly park in Johnson City, NY. The park features spacious grassy fields and scenic river views, making it perfect for on-leash strolls, playing fetch, or simply enjoying fresh air with your furry friends.
This park is exceptionally well maintained, offering clean facilities, shaded areas with mature trees, picnic pavilions, and plenty of open space for walking dogs. Convenient parking (including handicap access), public restrooms (when available), and water views make it a relaxing spot for both locals and travelers passing through. Dog waste bags are provided near the baseball field, and the park maintains a reputation for being welcoming to pets. Although there is not a dedicated, fenced-in off-leash dog area, leashed dogs are welcome on the trails and throughout the park’s open spaces.
It’s a nice little park, “except for that slide”.
I was with my 4 year old granddaughter and she was scared to go down the slide. She was gonna sit on my lap to go down, but chickened out last second. I went down alone to show her it would be fun … I caught my sneaker heel on the first turn, somehow did a half somersault, hit my head, n came out the bottom with my knee hurting and head ringing, thinking I’ll never do that again …and very thankful she hadn’t been on my lap. That slide is a hazard.

Nice swing and gym set but there isn’t an area for kids to ride a bike or skate board, I love the grass but some bike paths would be nice and a place to skateboard…for the most part it was pretty clean. Very small mostly for young children

It’s a relatively small park, but there are several things to do with your kids or by yourself even though it’s a bit smaller; there’s a pool, a playground, a baseball field, a handball wall, a concession both, and a small pavilion. It’s also very accessible, and parking off street as well as many side streets to park on that’re right in walking distance.
