Chelmsford Dog park was a fun place to go with our beloved rescue dog Naty. Recently, we visited the park as a couple and enjoyed seeing the dogs roam freely.

As far as fenced in dog parks go, this is a 5 star. We went mid day on a Sunday and there were 20 or more dogs. Everyone was friendly and our dog had a great time.

The park itself is great, but I believe there needs to be closer attention to the behavior of some of the dogs who regularly visit. While there’s a policy of no toys or treats to help minimize potential aggression, it doesn’t seem to be consistently effective. On my first visit, my dog was calmly greeting others when she was unexpectedly attacked. Thankfully, no injuries occurred.

I completely understand the “use at your own risk” nature of dog parks, but I do think it would be helpful if regular visitors were more mindful of their dogs’ temperaments and interactions. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be to encourage a little more active monitoring from both owners and staff to ensure a safe, positive experience for everyone.

Probably the best dog park in MA that I have been to and I’ve been to a lot in the Boston and metro west area. Similar to Colorado and Utah they have a respectable dog community who help create a safe and happy place for dogs. I appreciate the people who volunteer and give their time to keep the place open year round. My dog loves it and I do too.
