The Oxford Area Recreation Dog Park is a well-kept, fenced dog park in Oxford, PA, perfect for dog owners seeking a secure and welcoming spot for their pets. Conveniently located in a residential neighborhood, this park features a grassy, enclosed area where dogs can play off-leash and socialize. With consistently clean grounds and friendly local dog owners, it’s an excellent destination for pet-friendly outings and exercise.
While this dog park is smaller than some others in Chester County, its quieter atmosphere means it’s seldom crowded, especially on weekday evenings. Visitors appreciate the benches available for seating, along with the safe, secure fencing around the play area. Although there’s no on-site water provided, pet waste bags are available—just remember to bring your own water and be prepared to dispose of waste at home if trash bins are full or not present. The park’s location also connects you to nearby recreation areas, trails, and other kid-friendly activities in the Oxford community, making it a versatile dog-friendly spot in Chester County.
Cute little park. Smaller than other Chester County dog parks we have visited. As I approached the gate, preparing to enter, I encountered an owner of an apparently human unfriendly dog, alone in the large dog section. She said I shouldn’t come in as her dog “doesn’t like people.” That unless I wanted to risk being bitten, I shouldn’t come in and should wait about 10 minutes until she was ready to leave! I while I have pretty good patience and compassion (including empathy for people with challenging dogs – because I have one, too) but this person’s “ownership” of the space hit me the wrong way and I wasn’t quiet about it. I addressed her saying that I didn’t think that was proper etiquette for a PUBLIC dog park. Well, she didn’t budge and basically told me again I could choose to enter and risk being bitten. She also said that this park operated under “first come, first served” rules. That wasn’t on the posted park rules. And that others “hadn’t had any problem” with having to wait for her to finish “her turn.” So, just a heads up about my experience at this nice but small park.
