Nestled near the Gunnison River, Cottonwood Grove Campground offers a peaceful and pet-friendly retreat for those seeking seclusion, natural beauty, and outdoor recreation. While best known for its tranquil campsites and access to excellent hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing, this spot is also a great destination for dog owners in Delta, Colorado. Spacious areas allow for dogs to stretch their legs, while the scenic trails nearby are perfect for dog-friendly hiking adventures.
The campground features shaded sites, easy river access, and quiet nights under the stars. Amenities such as a double-gated entrance and a fenced area for dogs provide peace of mind for owners, and playgrounds, picnic areas, and clean wide trails contribute to a family-friendly atmosphere. While some facilities could use more frequent maintenance, Cottonwood Grove remains a favorite for both campers and dog lovers seeking an authentic Colorado experience.
Great place to hike and look for rocks. Views are great and the wildlife is extra ordinary. Have blurry video of what appears to be an otter as well but didnt publish. Pack your trash with you to haul out and drown your fires.

Had an amazing time there! Very clean and peaceful. They has ADA sight with pier. Being disabled that was amazing to have that option. It is gold water. So only fly or lure. The stars are amazing! We will definitely be going back!

Hidden BLM gem. The accesroad is a bit of a hassle but nothing too serious. Managed to get a 25ft motorhome across, luckily the upcoming traffic was to nice to move and make a bit of passing space. Other than that, nothing extreme. Would avoid in the wet though.
Campground is beautiful and even has multiple shaded sites, with a little creek running though. Of course the Gunnison River rushing along soothes the minds at a quiet night. Would’ve stayed longer if we had the time. Definitely recommended.

A great place to fish on the Gunny! Nice and secluded! Abundant trout. I recommend good tires and a little ground clearance before heading down the road.

Camp sites are spaced out well and sleeping next to the river is beautiful. Camped in 60/30 weather and didn’t get too cold cause of the elevation. Getting here is about a 15 min drive on rocky back roads once you enter the recreation area. No four wheel drive needed. but the views are great along the way. Will be coming back if travels allow it!
