Really great, long hike with gradual elevation change over a long period of time so it felt like a really pleasant walk in the woods. Went in mid July and the wildflowers were stunning and everywhere! The trail is also incredibly well maintained- no chance of getting lost.

Beautiful and fun trail! It is an easy, gradual incline for 2.5 miles and then you walk along the crest about 2 more miles. There are so many lakes to look at as you walk along the crest too. We did the loop, which I would not recommend. It was unnecessarily hard and very exposed due to fallen trees. If I were to do it again I would go the 5 miles up and across the crest, then back down the same way. It was beautiful and you walk through the trees. Our dog loved it! We didn’t pass very many people, we came on a Thursday morning. There is plenty of parking, and there’s bathrooms at the trailhead. It was 10.8 miles total for the loop.
Beautiful, the park actually has several trailheads of varying difficulties. The views are gorgeous, there are open areas just off the trails or trail crossings that are refreshing, lots of cattle in the open areas so be cautious especially with dogs or horses. There are horse trails and ATV trails, some of the trails are multifunction so share the trail. In the winter ski and snowmobile trails. Great all year
Trail to the highest point on the Grand Mesa. Spectacular views and a cool walk across the spine. Pretty easy hike, but a few thrilling exposed sections. A few options including a lower loop back to the parking lot, or drop
a car at the other end. Check out Alexander Lake Lodge for lunch …if they are open. Nice Polish family run.
