Love this little Gem of a spot to take my kiddos and not have to worry about waves taking them under, pr the worries you have when going to a big overcrowded beach. It is clean and a nice little spot to enjoy some family time, more so with the little kiddos.

Easy to find, a good amount of parking for the space. The beach is cozy and there is enough space for more than what the parking lot can hold, I would say. The water is shallow, no waves. The sand is clean but sometimes seems dirtier than Roaring Point, just down the road. Very dog friendly, fishing is allowed. The park rangers are awesome and love to chat when they’re around. Looks like there will be some improvements coming soon, can’t wait. Great local spot to try if you like the beach but don’t want the crowds.

I love my NYC; won’t live anywhere else. But the beaches everywhere, PACKED SOLID, ALL OF EM. And not a lot of folks wearing masks on the days we went. Cove is much smaller, and so much better for it. People flowed in and out consistently, so there was always a spot open for folks coming in, and just enough space to social distance. The water is also a bay and not a big roaring ocean, so families with children can safely allow kids to play and swim. And there were plenty out having a good good time! Under different circumstances kids could make friends playing here with no problem. No lifeguard, and really no need. The water doesn’t go above your chest until you’re far far out from shore. The little crest waves were gentle, folks grilling in the tiny park patch with a picnic, free and vehicle safe parking. Perfect beach experience. Be prepared with GPS for the trip back after 6pm. The ferry closes, so youll drive another route that’s just about the same distance. And that drive is also beautiful.
