Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
1889 Park, located at 132 Park Rd in South Fork, PA, is a peaceful spot perfect for pet owners looking for relaxing walks and outdoor fun. This scenic area features pet-friendly trails that follow a stream, complete with benches and a picturesque footbridge, making it popular among locals and visitors. Dog owners enjoy the natural shade from abundant pines, open grassy areas, and plenty of walking and hiking opportunities, making it an ideal place for dog-friendly outings near South Fork.
Families will appreciate the kids’ playground and the natural tranquility of the park, while those seeking extended stays can use the RV park and picnic pavilions. While the RV park offers convenient hookups and amenities, some reviews note limited restroom access and pavilion maintenance near the ball fields. Nevertheless, with its lovely trails, scenic streamside benches, and overall pet-friendly atmosphere, 1889 Park stands out among dog parks and recreational spots in Cambria County for a great day with your pup.
We had my nieces graduation party in the pavilion by the baseball field. The park is still as peaceful as it has always been since back when I lived in South Fork and went to Forest Hills. The only issues I had that reduced this from 5 stars to 4 are:
1. The pavilion was swarming with wasps and appeared like it has been this way for quite some time without anyone attempting to remove them or dissuade them from nesting here
2. There are no restrooms near the ball field if you happen to be there when the museum is closed. We had a bunch of kids and a few elderly people in our group and you can only imagine the headaches of numerous walks across a road that isn’t patrolled for speeders and another 200+ yard walk with small kids that can’t hold it that extra 2 minutes.
3. The picnic tables, at least under the pavilion we rented, are entirely too low to the ground. I am 6’1″ and I could not sit properly at any of the tables because my knees would be pressed against the underside of every one of them and made it almost impossible to get up if I had both legs under the table.
Great up and coming RV park!! Camp host Wayne was great! Very accommodating and nice person.

Nice playground for kids and a lovely trail to walk on with lots of pines! And a stream!
One of the best places around here to go. We bring our kids here many times a year.
The stream path and exercise path were more or less taken care of. Very pretty along the stream with benches placed throughout. The little footbridge was pretty. Although, taking the path up further off of the stream path, following the road, wasn’t maintained at all and felt like the Amazon rainforest. It ended up leading to a big overgrown field, so had to turn back.
Overall, a cute little place to walk if you stay on the main path.
