This is a beautiful place of recreation to go to, located directly off of the main highway. There are a few trails here that lead back for a few miles. You can easily bring a dog with you and get some exercise. There are some poison ivy so be careful where you step.
Great for a good hike, but couldn’t enjoy the scenery as I was looking at my feet the entire way. Ankle twisters the whole path up, my dog and I hiked up for about half an hour or so and that is all it was. Of course it’s the same thing going back down. Neck was stiff from looking directly where I am stepping the whole time.
Rocky PA hiking trail! Can be muddy, usually not many people. Great for dogs. The entire trail is actually 26 miles and there is a nice lean-to shelter 3.8 mile in from the Windber side. You will cross paths with snowmobile trails and roads.
This trail was nice. I’d say it’s good for brisk walking or trail running as it was pretty flat. The trail markers were a little hard to see sometimes. The trail turned into an old access road, which was pretty. I didnt get much farther than that because the sun was setting, but theres lots of parking and it’s a very pretty place. If you’re looking for a challenging hike though, this probably isn’t going to be one you want to do. It’s very tame.
