Located in the heart of Washington, DC, Swampoodle Dog Park & Playground is a popular spot for city pet owners seeking a safe and fun environment for their canine companions. This well-maintained dog park features a fully fenced, turf-covered play area that keeps pups clean and mud-free after playtime. Whether you’re a local resident or visiting the city, Swampoodle is known for its lively crowd of friendly dogs and welcoming owners, offering a perfect opportunity for your pet to socialize.
The park stands out with its thoughtful amenities, including dog water fountains (available in summer), ample seating, shaded corners, and poop bag dispensers. Designed with accessibility in mind, Swampoodle is wheelchair accessible and also features a playground area, making it a great option for families with both kids and pets. Reviewers praise its social atmosphere and easy access, making it one of the best dog parks in Washington, DC for both dogs and their humans.
Small park, but it is well maintained. There are plenty of friendly dogs. Signs at the entrance request that only 9 dogs be inside at the time, but no one seems to pay attention to it. If your dog needs to play, don’t wait, or you’ll never get in. There’s at least 15 dogs inside at any given time.
The park itself is fine. It’s nice to have in the city; it’s just large enough so that the dogs can socialize and play freely; and it has decent amenities like free water, etc. But in this case, beware of dog owners, not dogs. This park is routinely littered with trash and dog excrement that owners with no sense of shame leave behind. The owners all perch themselves down and bury themselves in their iPhones, scrolling away while their dogs defecate everywhere, hump other dogs, and otherwise do things an owner should be keen to correct. Nowadays, owning a dog for these people is more about Instagramability than companionship and respect. Just know that if you venture into this park, you should check your shoes before walking into your residence.
Charlie and Ding Dong love Swampoodle Dog Park! The park is small, however there are always dogs here for them to play with. We’ve been to other dog parks in the city and at least in our experience, they were scarce with dogs or empty. In the summer, they have two water spigots to hydrate your dogs, however after Labor Day, the city shuts off the water. The setup of the dog park encourages socializing with other owners and has ample seating. The dog park is made of turf (so your dogs will not get muddy) and equipped with poop bag dispensers. Best dog park in the city!
Well maintained and clean dog park. Popular enough to keep our pup entertained but not overwhelming which I liked. The dogs seemed to love running up and down the ramps! Dog owners were all very friendly and good about keeping an eye on their dogs

We brought our mini dachshund to Swamp Doodle Dog Park, and she had an absolute blast! Her favorite thing is playing with other dogs, and she loved every minute of running, jumping, and socializing here. The park is well-designed, and I really appreciate that the fence is low enough to keep little dogs safe while still giving them plenty of room to explore.
There was a great crowd when we visited—friendly people and well-behaved pups made for a perfect outing. Definitely a spot we’ll be visiting regularly!
