There is a small walking/jogging loop around the playground area that’s mostly shaded. Kind of secluded from the rest of the Wakefield Valley trail, and right of the parking lot.

This park recently was remodeled, and the climbing rocks were removed, replaced by a playground. I felt that the part that made this park special was the rocks for climbing rather than an average playground set, so removing those rocks made this playground feel average. However, the new playground has a rock climbing wall that resembles the rocks that used to be there, and It has a huge, steep and fast slide. There are still many things to climb!

I live in Avondale and take my daughter here every day. The furnace collapsed kind of a shame. Also no swings. That slide is some gen x beat urself up craziness tho. Love it.

This walking trail is another one of Carroll County’s not-so-hidden gems. It’s a diverse path that runs through woods as well as a neighborhood and even a section with huge boulders on each side. They are also rebuilding the playground just beside the parking lot. It’s a really nice one. The walking terrain has plenty of flat but also some incline. Not very steep but hills enough to get your heart pumping. You can walk, run, bike or skate here and it’s quite popular with dog walkers. There’s ample parking and a port-a-potty which is great if you walk the entire trail which is just over 3 miles. Look for the resident black and white cat along the Rt. 31 path. It’s been there for years and is quite friendly. Spring is really busting out everywhere on this trail. So enjoy it!

It’s a tiny park, but it has a massive (just dangerous enough to be interesting) play set, and a running trail. Good for kids who won’t stop running in the house. It’s tucked in the trees by the ball park. Pretty nice.
