🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the heart of Duarte, California, Duarte Sports Park offers a welcoming environment for both families and pet owners. This spacious park is known for its well-maintained fields, public restrooms, and easy accessibility, including wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking. Though not primarily a dedicated dog park, it remains a local favorite for those in search of open, pet-friendly trails and recreational space.
The park features a variety of amenities such as sports fields, playgrounds for kids, and ample parking (about 14 spaces available). Restrooms are conveniently located, although they may only be open during games or events. The park’s relaxed atmosphere, combined with shaded areas and good lighting, make it a pleasant spot for a casual stroll or a game of fetch with your dog. While there are no specialized off-leash dog sections or agility equipment, and some areas may get dusty or muddy after rain, it still offers a safe and friendly space for your furry friend to enjoy the outdoors.
Dusty field.. But decent enough.
We played baseball on the Duarte High school field. The filed was in good shape despite the rain. The restrooms and the park were not clean. I don’t know why I am surprised be this.
This park has bowls that are great. A little bit of everything. Almost vert bowls, boxes, quarters everywhere,a spine,a couple of rails and stairs and a couple of good boxes. This park isn’t bad for a good practice session. There is also a baseball field adjacent to the park. Parking has about14 parking spaces. Police are strict about wearing a helmet at this park. They do issue tickets, skate at your own risk.
The park itself is very nice looking and seems to be well-maintained. Bathrooms can be an issue as some of the only ones I know of there are by the snack bar. This means they are usually open only when games are being played. My biggest problem is the way some of the sports are run that play out of that park. Communication is not always good, rules are hard to define, and the refs they use are not usually even half way decent.
For pickleball: No nets. Requirement to bring your own. But good lighting, and very little crowds.
