Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, Dr. Jeffrey Wenig Memorial Park offers pet-friendly trails ideal for dog owners seeking a peaceful stroll with scenic views. Surrounded by mature pine trees and gentle hills, this park in Melville, New York, is perfect for people and pups looking for a small, natural retreat away from the bustle of the city. Hikers and dog owners often enjoy spotting local wildlife, like the occasional rare red squirrel, which adds a unique touch to your dog-friendly hike.
The trails may be a bit overgrown in spots and there can be some litter at the trailheads, but the woodsy atmosphere and quiet environment make it a nice option for those who appreciate a more rustic, less crowded setting for their walk. Please note that while it is pet-friendly, the size and amenities of the park suggest it’s best for casual hikes rather than large play groups. Checkout Dr. Jeffrey Wenig Memorial Park for a close-to-home adventure with your furry friend!
Very nice
Decent ,nice even
I saw a red squirrel. Pretty rare in these parts.
It’s a nice quiet park. Though it’s a little small. I like the hills and the pine trees. But there’s lots of trash by the trailhead on Wilmington. And the trail head on Roundtree is a little overgrown. I wish they had a trail in the part of the park on the other side of Elkland. There’s actually a lot of woods back there if you want to bushwhack.
It is a fairly nice park to hike in, but it is inside a neighborhood and is a bit small.
