🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

The Long Beach Dog Run is one of the best dog parks for local pet owners seeking a safe, clean, and friendly spot to let their pups socialize and get exercise by the water. This dog park in Long Beach, NY, features two separate, fully-fenced areas divided by dog size—one for dogs under 25 pounds and another for larger breeds above 25 pounds—making it easy for both small and large dogs to have fun off-leash. Recent renovations have improved its amenities, and the park receives regular praise for its clean conditions and courteous community of dog owners.
Convenience is another highlight here: water fountains (operational seasonally), poop bag stations, benches, and a gazebo for shade or weather protection are available onsite. Enjoy stunning views of the water, especially during sunrise and sunset, but be aware that the proximity to a nearby plumbing plant can occasionally result in unpleasant odors on hot days. Visit Long Beach Dog Run to enjoy a top local haven for both pups and their people!
2 parks, 1 for dogs 25 pounds under and one for above 25 pounds. Clean, offers water fountains (bring your own during the winter months, they are turned off) poppie bags, and benches…. live it
Great local place to let your dog stretch their legs. Clean, and most people/dogs are friendly.
Currently, the water fountain is down. Maybe it gets turned off due to the weather? Bring a water bottle
I can see why dogs are not permitted at the beach or boardwalk in long beach—these owners have absolutely no control over their dogs, just let them assault my 1 year old and made excuses that it was because I had treats on me (I did not). I used to love long beach but this has tainted my experience.
Nice dog park. I love that it has an area for small dogs and large dogs. Everyone in there was Courteous and friendly. Water fountains do not work; bring your own for your thirsty paw, baby.
This newly renovated Dog park is a great place to let your dog run around and socialize with other dogs. They have poop bags available, a gazebo to protect you from the weather and at sunrise and sunset you get beautiful views of the water which is adjacent to the park. The only con is that it is near a plumbing plant and the smell can get quite horrendous when it’s extremely hot. There is a Big Dog section and Small Dog section that is divided and suited to your needs.
