This is my first experience leaving my 100 lb hound mix with anyone that wasn’t family, and the decision of where to leave him was difficult. I depended on the opinion of his veterinarian and other dog sitters, and learned that Social Hound is under new ownership by a trusted dog lover. He’s almost 10 years old, is very, very strong, and has issues from being in a shelter for 2 years before we adopted him. Being confined in any way pretty much freaks him out, but especially if there are bars and a small visual area. I found the owner and staff to be very understanding and willing to try whatever worked best for him. When I picked him up, I have to say that while he was really happy to see me, he was also very happy to give some puppy love to the owner and one of the employees in the waiting room as well. To me, that spoke volumes. Also, I paid to have him bathed before we picked him up, and whoever groomed him did an amazing job. The only negative thing I have to say is that there is a strong smell of urine when you walk in, but I am confident that the new owner will work that out. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is that I picked up a happy guy!
Our black lab mix, Brisket, loves his visits to the Social Hound. When we pull up to the building he jumps out and can’t wait to join the other dogs. The convenience of having the groomer on site is great. I am happy to have a safe place to send my pup when needed – the socialization is imperative to his growth and well being!
We have used Social Hound for boarding and day care for the last 5+ years. Always happy with the care they’ve provided our dog and trust them to take care of her while we’re away. Very friendly staff and great communication if there’s ever an issue.
We’ve been bringing our Mini Schnauzer to the Social Hound since she received all of her shots and we couldn’t be happier with the team and service there. The people who work here are all incredible and treat our pup like she’s one of their own and it shows with how obsessed she is with each and everyone there. Marisol is an exceptional groomer and even though our Paisley has a bit of sass she gets the job done perfectly.
I’ve had a really disappointing experience with this doggie daycare. The front desk staff, particularly one person, acts like she’s doing me a favor just by being there. It’s consistently unwelcoming and borderline rude.
The posted hours say they’re open until 7 PM, but they strongly suggest you pick up your dog by 5:30 PM “out of respect for her time.” I understand people want to go home, but if you’re going to close at 5:30, be honest about your hours. It feels like the convenience of the staff is more important than the service to paying customers.
I won’t be bringing my dog back here. There are plenty of other places that value both your pet and your time.
