Omgoodness 🥰 Black Beach is breathtaking!!! Went to check it out right before sunset and knew I needed to return for the sunrise! 🫶 Beautiful 😍 🤩 12 out of 10. Picnic tables and fire rings to enjoy an entire day at the beach!!
Even on a foggy morning the family had fun at this beach location. Lots of rocks to climb for everyone, beautiful sites, and just the enjoyment of Lake Superior’s waves for the kids. Note that the black rocks on the beach are big enough to be painful if they get into your sandals or shoes. Tread carefully (pun intended).
Beautiful and unique stretch of shoreline with dark sand that looks almost volcanic. It’s a peaceful spot to stroll, watch Lake Superior’s waves, and skip stones. The beach gets pretty rocky in places, so sturdy shoes are a good idea. Not ideal for sunbathing or swimming due to the cooler water and uneven surface, but it’s a nature lover’s gem—especially at sunrise or sunset. A great off-the-beaten-path find that’s worth a visit.
Black Beach is a beautiful view to look at the lake. This place is clean. There are a few picnic tables in the area which is nice for the family to have a meal. It’s a nice place to gather around and spend the day. The only downfall is that it is not accessible to those who are in a wheelchair or have limited mobility may want to visit Black Beach. It’s a few-minute walk from the parking lot to the Black Beach trail down the hill to the Beach.
The girls tried to go swimming in the lake and it was very 🥶 cold. Most of them were able to get their legs wet in the water for only a few minutes and get back to land to stay warm. Lol.
Great stop on the way up the north shore to Grand Marais. Good place to get a good walk in. If you can, you may attempt at climbing the rocks for a beautiful view. Bring the proper footwear, this can’t be stressed enough. The parking situation is fine during the week, but when it’s the weekend…. It will be hard with the small parking lot and street parking filling up quickly.
