Located conveniently in the Wayland area, Gano Street Dog Park offers a pet-friendly space for local residents and visitors alike. As one of the dog parks in Providence, Rhode Island, it provides an open area where dogs are allowed and can socialize, making it a favorite among neighborhood dog owners. The park usually stays fairly empty except for afternoons, giving dog owners the space and peace needed for relaxed walks or play sessions with their pets.
The park boasts wheelchair-accessible parking and allows dogs, creating an inclusive environment for all. While it’s a nice option for walks and letting your pup off-leash in a controlled setting, it is recommended to use caution, especially in busier hours. There is a single shade tree that offers a cool respite, although it can attract bugs during the summer months. Reviews highlight the park’s quieter nature, making it a solid choice for those seeking less crowded dog-friendly spots in Providence.
Cute place.
Good place to walk your dogs
Nice little park, usually pretty empty except in late afternoons. Not at its best in summer, as the lone shade tree attracts swarms of bugs.
I was recently there (4/10/2023) with my 7 year old yellow lab. First 3 minutes of being there my dog was attacked by another dog. Owner immediately picked up her dog and left. NULL,000 later and a million tears later she is finally get back to herself. Ended up with a tore ear that’s needed stitches and sutures. I understand that it is at your own risk but yikes that was horrible. My kids are forever traumatized. So if you know a woman that is tall, thin, and fair complexion with a black aggressive dog ( I think it was a mutt). Stay away. Also let her know it was totally irresponsible to flee the scene the way that she did.
