The M. A. Banks Basketball Court, located in the heart of Vinton, Virginia, is a beloved neighborhood park known for its wide open grassy fields and versatile spaces. While not a traditional fenced dog park, it offers plenty of open space perfect for leashed strolls with your pet, making it a casually dog-friendly spot. Locals enjoy celebrating birthdays, hosting cookouts, and playing sports like basketball, which creates a vibrant, family-oriented atmosphere.
Though the park lacks specialized amenities such as dog water fountains, fenced areas, or agility equipment, its spacious green field is great for energetic games like fetch (on-leash if required). Please note there are no public restrooms on site and accessibility can be challenging, as some visitors mentioned the need for better wheelchair access and designated handicap parking. If you’re searching for a welcoming, multi-purpose neighborhood hangout where dogs are allowed on-leash, the M. A. Banks Basketball Court is a solid choice for Vinton families seeking pet-friendly parks.

A nice park but wish there was Handicap parking and easier access for the Handicap to get to the pavilion.
