Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Table Mountain Trail is one of the standout dog-friendly hiking trails in Jamestown, California. This scenic trail offers a moderately challenging route with stunning views, wildflower displays in season, and unique features like rocky climbs and vernal pools. It’s pet-friendly, making it a great spot for those looking to enjoy the outdoors with their canine companions.
While not a traditional fenced dog park, leashed dogs are welcome on the trail, which includes sunny sections and some steep, rocky inclines near the summit. Be sure to bring lots of water for both you and your dog, especially on warmer days, and wear appropriate hiking footwear for the rugged terrain. Parking is available near the trailhead, and the area is best enjoyed during cooler weather or wildflower season.
That incline was rough for my weak knees and legs, but with a few breaks, it’s not bad or very long before you get to the top of Table Mountain. Definitely wear the right hiking shoes for rugged basalt rock terrain and be prepared to climb a little. Dont be me and wear running shoes 😅 Also, bring lots of water if you go on a warm day, half the trail is in the sun, and the top of the Mesa is as well. But that view! The ravens and buzzards soar right next to you on the updrafts. If you get hot, go towards the cliff (safely) and take in the cold breeze from that updraft. I saw a lot of kids on the trail, and my own son did fine, better than me. Little ones may get tired, though, if they dont hike often. It’s definitely one of my favorite hikes for wildflower season. I didn’t even see the vernal pools, but next time, I will!
Beautiful trail with great views. There’s a sign that says dead end local traffic only ,but that is the way to the trail head. The caves were a bonus to explore in. Not a lot of shade so bring plenty of fluids.
This is a really great hike. Little strenuous near the top where you will have to climb over some rocks but definitely doable. Parked nearby a small off-road area that led to another parking area by the main entrance of the trail. There’s also a smaller walking trail off to the side of the off road section if you want to just walk to the trail head. Started easy but got a little difficult as we were climbing higher. Definitely worth it though for the views. Spent about 2 hours doing this slowly there and back.
This was a great hike. The weather cooperated and the trail was in pretty good shape. Not too many wet spots.
I was able to take my dog on this trail which was nice.
Gets steep and rocky at the top but worth the climb.
Beautiful trail this time of year! Hiked…then some mini rock climb the last bit to the top lol. We had fun and just enjoyed the scenery. Husband and I took our 14 year old and her friend and we had a great time at the top! Easy for most of the trail but once you get to the rocky part near the top it’s somewhat steep and rocky zig-zag. Thats the most difficult part. But so worth the views! We are not in the best shape and had no trouble with the trail. 2-3 hours round trip. So fun. Will go again.
