🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Foschini Park is a beloved community green space nestled along the river in Hackensack, New Jersey. This historic park, renowned since the 19th century, boasts wide, well-maintained paved paths perfect for dog-friendly walks, runs, or casual strolls. While Foschini Park isn’t exclusively a dog park, its ample open space and scenic walking trails make it popular among local dog owners seeking a pet-friendly destination for outdoor fun.
In addition to spacious sports fields and a small nature walk with relaxing benches, Foschini Park offers plenty of parking and is conveniently located for residents of nearby Hackensack neighborhoods. The park’s ongoing improvements and maintenance keep it clean and enjoyable, making it a fantastic place for dogs and their humans to exercise or unwind near the river.
Foschini Park is perhaps the oldest (its’ existence is documented back to the 19th century) park in Hackensack. Originally part of the Oritani Athletic Grounds, it was deeded to the City of Hackensack in 1911-12, and named Riverside Park. In 1956, two years after his demise, the park was rededicated in memory of late Mayor and City Councilman Paul Foschini, who had served a combined 27 years in office. Mr Foschini had a tremendous love of sports, particularly baseball, and the park shows it. Ten fields dot the landscape of most of this park’s 28 acres, with the showcase fields being Fields 5 & 7, the largest fields. I recall many afternoons and evenings enjoying the Hackensack Troasts of the legendary Metropolitan Baseball League as they faced top flight competition from all over North Jersey in what was clearly the best baseball league in the state. Nothing today quality wise can even come close to that league’s level of talent.
For those looking for something else, there is only a small playground area in the southwest side, and a small nature walk along the back end of the park with benches for relaxing.
The City of Hackensack is in the process of building improvements onto Foschini Park and hopefully, they will make the park even more enjoyable for the future.

Ample open space allows for various sports, from baseball to soccer. Located conveniently close to the new Ivy and Green, and Print House apartments, it’s a quick escape to nature. Relax and enjoy the calm scenery, watch a game, or get in a workout – Foschini Park has something for everyone.
A nice park for children to play. I’ve mainly give her during the fireworks festival Hackensack hosts to celebrate Independence Day.
It was great to see the firework show return in 2022. It’s always been such a convenient walk for us.
Nice park by the river. Popular for baseball and sports. Has a walking track too but views of the river are limited. Park has ample parking but no proper toilets. Reasonably well maintained Portable washrooms are available though.
Although they are doing renovations // some construction work, I really love this park especially on a nice spring morning!! It’s nicely maintained, lawn services are here this morning making sure of it! Beautiful place to take a walk or a stroll with a friend. They do have a pathway most of it’s perfect for a bike ride or a walk, but when you get to a certain part, there is gravel and or the street so if you’re on a bike just beware. I was told by other pedestrians that during the spring time there are a lot of baseball and softball games so it gets pretty crowded.
